The Power of an Open Mindset in Recovery

I think the best mindset to enter into recovery is an open-minded mindset because if you could have gotten sober on your own by now, you would have. So no matter where you’re at in your addiction, You’re new in your recovery. You have to keep an open mind that you don’t have the answers, that your way of thinking isn’t working, and that maybe somebody else’s is, even if just for a little bit until you develop your pattern, your habits, and something that you can claim as your own because like my typical narrative and reactions to things didn’t work. It got me where I was, and it got me loaded, and it also valued getting loaded; getting high was good, and being sober was bad, right?

But getting loaded destroyed my life, I still wanted to get loaded, and I still thought it was good. Like it, it is insanity. So, like going into early recovery with an open mind, admitting, Hey, I don’t know half as much as I thought I did. I’m just going to listen to people that seem to be doing a little bit better than me.
